Body Transformation Challenge – Day 101

It’s Day 101 of Nick Fatimus and Cindy Russo’s Body Transformation Challenge. Today we we check in with Nick and Cindy just before Thanksgiving. They are still losing weight and looking great. We also talk about the holiday season and their resolve to lose more weight in spite of all of the temptations

Biceps – 3 Exercises

In this video I take you through 3 bicep routines. Your biceps are the flashy side of your arm. They give you that nice peak when you flex. Again, these are all isolation movements, so you want to be sure you don’t go too heavy on the weight. Shoot for good form first and foremost. If you get sloppy you could injure yourself or deprive your muscles from the benefit of moving through their full range of motion.

The 3 routines included in this video are:

  • Incline Dumbbell Curls
  • Preacher Curls with EZ Bar
  • Dumbbell Hammer Curls

In all of these routines, make sure to keep your arms close to your body. If you have to swing your entire body to move the weigh then the weight is too heavy.

Triceps – 3 Exercises

In this video I take you through 3 tricep routines. Your triceps comprise almost 2/3 of your arm size, and if you want big arms you cannot neglect them. That said, these are all isolation movements, so you want to be sure you don’t go too heavy on the weight. Shoot for good form first and foremost. If you get sloppy you could injure yourself or deprive your muscles from the benefit of moving through their full range of motion.

The 3 routines included in this video are:

  • Tricep Pressdowns with V-Grip
  • Overhead Dumbbell Tricep Extensions
  • Reverse Barbell Tricep Extensions

In all of these routines, make sure to keep your elbows close to the center of your body. If you have to throw your body around or use your shoulders, the weight is too heavy.

Body Transformation Challenge – Day 81

It’s Day 81 of Nick Fatimus and Cindy Russo’s Body Transformation Challenge. Today we went down the the F.H. Buhl Club’s indoor pool and demonstrated some low impact exercises with Cindy. These are a great way to build strength and get the heart beating without adding stress to the joints.

Note: John pulled away from Cindy’s scale before it settled, so the 190 that is displayed in red is the correct weight for the day.

The Deadlift – Powerlifting Series

In this episode of our powerlifting series I demonstrate the barbell deadlift. The deadlift is a great compound movement for strengthening the lower back, the glutes and the legs.

In this video I use a conventional stance, shoulder width while grabbing the bar on the outside of my legs. For powerlifting use heavy weight and low reps, but don’t forget to warm up with 8 to 12 reps at a lower weight.


Technique

  • Your stance should be shoulder width. Start with your legs about and inch from the bar.
  • Grab the bar with one hand over and one hand under just to the outsides of your legs.
  • Always look straight ahead or up (Never look down!)
  • Ride the bar up your shins and your quads and back down.
  • Do not round your back. Keep it straight.
  • Use tight-fitting weight lifting belt for heavier weights
